Properties: The substance is a clear and colorless liquid with a faint ammonia-like odor. It has a melting point of 2.55°C and a boiling point range of 210-212°C, with decomposition starting at 180°C. The flash point of the substance is 154°C. Its density is 1.1334 at 20°C. It is soluble in water and alcohol, and slightly soluble in benzene and ether. The substance is also hygroscopic.

Application: Formamide has various uses and applications. It is primarily utilized in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals, spicery, and dyestuffs. Additionally, it serves as a solvent in processes such as synthetic fiber spinning, plastic processing, and lignin ink production. In the oil well drilling and building industry, formamide acts as a coagulation accelerator. It also finds application as a carburant in the casting industry and as a glue softener. Furthermore, formamide is widely used as a polar solvent in organic synthesis and as a paper treating agent.

Package and Storage: To ensure no leaks or water contact, it is important to store formamide in either 200L plastic drums or steel drums with a protective coating. These drums should be tightly sealed. It is crucial to store the drums in areas that are cool, well-ventilated, and dry. They must be kept away from fire and any sources of heat.
